Description
If you’re planning on installing an aftermarket shock absorber onto the OEM W163 front lower control arms, you’ll need to adapt the shock’s metal sleeve to fit into the ML’s lower control arm chamfered groove. These simple metal adapter enables the use of any compatible aftermarket shock onto the front of the w163 without the risk of sheering the Lower Control Arm bolt. This is typically done when a customer has lifted their W163 ML and has to utilize longer shocks to avoid over extending shock absorbers.
This kit comes with 2x Stainless Steel adapters. Reference the product’s photos as it may aid in better understanding the product use case.

Inside the shock.absorber attachment hump on the control arm is a threaded blind hole,??? You could show a bolt in the hole with your product without the shock absorbers. Does new bolts also have to used ???? Everything looks highly professional just seems odd that the blind hole thread can not be seen. Another photo would really help. ( industrial designer,)

Hello Mark,
Good eye! The photographed W163 front lower control arm came off of my lifted ML55 after I snapped the lower control arm bolt. Extracting the bolt failed and I had to replace the whole control arm unfortunately. The factory W163 front lower control arm utilizes a threaded through hole, into which the shock bolt is tightened to clamp the shock sleeve against the control arm. The photos in the product listing are used as representation of how the product would be used mounted before tightening the assembly with the bolt.
